●           Argumento (Script) is a publication edited by the Cine Clube de Viseu regularly since 1984. Created with the aim of promoting activities and fostering debate around cinema, pedagogy and artistic creation, it became, especially from the 2010s onwards, a reference editorial space: from a membersʼ bulletin it turned into one of the only/last printed Cinema magazines. Over the years, it has published essays, interviews, critical texts and original artistic works, featuring contributions from authors such as Edgar Pêra, Anabela Moutinho, Manuel S. Fonseca, João Mário Grilo, Maria João Madeira, Fausto Cruchinho, Carlos Losilla, Luís Nogueira, Rita Palma, among others. In partnership with international publications — such as Transit – Cine y Otros Desvíos — it has also ensured the publication of texts previously unpublished in Portugal.

●           From 2017 onwards, the year I began my professional — but also affectionate and activist — relationship with the Cine Clube, the graphic design of Argumento passed into my hands. I redesigned it, keeping only its title lettering, since the association did not wish to change its registration with the Media Regulatory Authority. As part of the redefinition of the Cine Clubeʼs graphic identity that I have been establishing object by object, Argumento also came to be read through the double combination of Times + monospaced Arial. The format and printing scheme remained unchanged (cover, inside cover, pages 2 and 23 in colour; text block in greyscale) and my approach, strongly inspired by the graphic design of the early decades — as well as by the processes of its graphic execution — attempts to recover, with pride in its fanzine‑style amateurism, the typographic verve of the 1980s‑90s.
