● Argumento (script) is a publication edited by the Cine Clube de Viseu regularly since 1984. Created with the aim of promoting activities and fostering debate around cinema, pedagogy and artistic creation, it became, especially from the 2010s onwards, a reference editorial space: from a membersʼ bulletin it turned into one of the only/last printed cinema magazines. Over the years, it has published essays, interviews, critical texts and original artistic works, featuring contributions from authors such as Edgar Pêra, Anabela Moutinho, Manuel S. Fonseca, João Mário Grilo, Maria João Madeira, Fausto Cruchinho, Carlos Losilla, Luís Nogueira, Rita Palma, among others. In partnership with international publications — such as Transit – Cine y Otros Desvíos — it has also ensured the publication of texts previously unpublished in Portugal.
● After I took over the graphic design of the publication in 2017, the format and layout of Argumento were once again revised in line with the broader visual identity updates implemented at the film club from 2020 onwards. Thus, while keeping the coloured cover and greyscale text block, in 2022 Argumento expanded from 24 to 36/40 pages, now shorter in height, adopting a squarer proportion and making the magazine more portable and easier to handle. The paper weight was reduced.
