●           «As its name suggests, Sementeira, a seasonal event, aims to be the fertile ground conducive to creativity and cultural production in all its forms, with the harvest left to the visitorsʼ discretion, without any interference from the organisers (Bloco de Esquerda/Left Bloc Viseu) other than creating favourable conditions for the free enjoyment of those who come to its spaces. A meeting place and an exchange of experiences, it has come to include — and intends to continue to do so — events as diverse as exhibitions, recitals, discussion groups and workshops, while also wishing to reaffirm itself as a place of spontaneity and socialising without ever losing sight of the playful and social dimension of creation and culture.» (António Gil)

●           Originally conceived as a multi‑day transdisciplinary artistic festival format, Sementeira is above all a mark of the autonomous political intervention of the Left Bloc Viseu in the cultural field, and can adapt to different contexts. Since the programme of concerts, performances and talks for the 2021 edition of Sementeira had to be cancelled at the last minute due to the imposition of yet another lockdown in the face of the COVID‑19 pandemic crisis in July, we distributed those events across the weekends of September. We called this format «Sementeira Sessions».
